Project Overview
For the London 2012 Olympic Games, ExCeL London required a temporary, high-performance acoustic partition to separate the Boxing and Fencing competition areas within a vast exhibition hall environment.
Jumbo Stud Partitions was appointed to design, supply and install a robust, fire-rated partition system capable of delivering outstanding acoustic performance — without any permanent impact on the building fabric.

The Challenge
Create a temporary acoustic dividing wall to separate live Olympic sporting events
Achieve high acoustic performance in a large, open venue
Deliver fire resistance and severe-duty robustness
No fixings permitted into floors, walls or the building structure
Complete installation within a tight Olympic build programme
ExCeL London stipulated that no holes or permanent fixings could be made to the building — requiring a fully engineered, non-intrusive solution.
The Solution
Jumbo Stud Partitions designed and installed a bespoke F60S Robust Partition System, engineered specifically for the constraints of the venue.
A custom head-track fixing method was developed, allowing the partition to connect to existing in-situ sliding gear at high level — delivering full structural integrity without penetrating the building fabric.
