Hambridge Road Industrial Estate – Newbury, Berkshire

At Units D, E and F, Hambridge Road Industrial Estate in Newbury, our team delivered a large-scale internal partitioning installation using the JPS60FS Jumbo Partition System. The project involved the construction of multiple full-height fire-rated compartment walls within an industrial warehouse environment, creating safe and functional internal divisions across the facility.

The installation formed part of a wider internal reconfiguration of the industrial units, including the creation of workshops, storage areas and supporting operational spaces.

Project Overview

The primary scope of works centred around the installation of two large 60-minute fire-rated jumbo partition walls, designed to provide effective fire compartmentation between the industrial units.

Each wall measured approximately 35.2 metres in length, extending from 6.4 metres at eaves height, rising to 8.4 metres at the roof apex before stepping down to approximately 6.9 metres at the office section of the building.

These large-scale partitions created robust fire separation across the building while maintaining the flexibility required within the operational warehouse layout.

Installation Approach

The partitions were constructed using a heavy-duty jumbo stud steel framework, designed specifically for high industrial environments requiring both strength and fire performance.

Key construction elements included:

  • 250mm heavy-gauge galvanised steel studs installed at 600mm centres
  • 12.5mm JPS robust performance boards fixed to both sides of the steel framework
  • 75mm high-density mineral wool insulation installed within the wall cavity
  • Deep base and head channel connections providing structural stability
  • An industrial finish, allowing the walls to be painted if required.

Powered access equipment was utilised during installation due to the significant wall heights and warehouse environment.
