At Unit E, Queen Elizabeth Distribution Park in West Thurrock, our team delivered a large-scale internal warehouse division using the JPS60FS Jumbo Partition System. The installation was carried out as part of a warehouse reconfiguration project, creating a secure and fire-compliant separation within the distribution facility occupied by Breezemount UK Ltd.

Located within one of the South East’s key logistics hubs, the building features high-bay warehouse accommodation with approximately 12 metre eaves height, requiring a partition system capable of spanning significant heights while maintaining structural integrity and fire performance.

Project Overview

The project required the construction of a full-height fire-rated warehouse partition dividing a large logistics facility into operational zones. The installed wall measured approximately 80.5 metres in length and extended from the warehouse floor up to the underside of the roof structure, reaching approximately 12.8 metres at eaves and up to 15 metres at its highest point.

The partition was designed to deliver one-hour fire resistance together with strong acoustic separation, ensuring safe compartmentation within the warehouse environment while supporting the operational requirements of the distribution centre.

Installation Approach

Due to the scale of the warehouse space, the partition was engineered using a heavy-duty jumbo stud construction capable of supporting significant wall heights.

Key construction features included:

  • 250mm wide heavy gauge steel studs (2.0mm thick) installed at 600mm centres
  • 12.5mm JPS robust performance boards fixed to both sides of the steel framework
  • 75mm high-density mineral wool insulation installed within the wall cavity
  • Deep head channel connection to accommodate structural movement
  • Corrugated steel protection panels installed up to 3 metres high to protect the partition from forklift and operational impacts within the warehouse environment.

Powered access equipment was used to safely construct the partition at height within the large-span distribution building.
